085: Ten Disappointing Films

What a decade this has been. Austerity, Brexit, Trump, Johnson and Coronavirus. Add to that the endless list of films which for one reason or another failed to come up to expectations.

Just what are these disappointing films? The At The Flicks team put together a special panel to nominate some of the most personal heart breaking features of the last ten years. Adding to that disappointment is the fact that many talked about here were built up with critical expectations.

For this show, Neil chairs in his best Priti Patel manner, bullying Jeff non stop. That said, it does become understandable when Jeff yet again talks endlessly about “intellectual horror films” when he names The Witch as one of his choices. Further disagreements appear within the group when a Marvel (sort of) film is mentioned, and mention of The Dark Tower brings back embarrassing memories for Jeff.

Declan surprises everyone with his Sam Raimi choice, Neil surprises only himself with his Guillermo Del Toro pick. As for Phil, well his selection starts a debate on the merits of Disney’s recent plan to turn all of their animation films into live action remakes. Graham, Marvel to the core, uses his opportunity to attack DC.

So something for everyone there. The trailers for a couple of the choices are listed below, the rest you will find in this very amusing and irreverent edition of the show.
